The peppers |
 |
The Middle Ages gave its letters of nobility to pepper.
Indeed, at that time it was used as currency of exchange
and was worth expensive than gold.
Princes and kings chartered ships for long tours so
to bring back this invaluable spice and to adapt its trade.
It is the governor of Mauritius and Reunion which, in 1770,
pepper introduced into the French colonies of this time.
The pepper of its Latin name piper nigrum is a climbing plant
long-lived which is liked in the tropical areas.
This plant produces lianas which are in fact of fine stems
from where hang fruit poles.
